Touch Compass Summer School 2015

For five days in early 2015 25 participants from Australia, Dunedin, Christchurch, Wellington, Paeroa, Raglan and Auckland came together for an audition summer school.

Learning repertoire from Watching Windows, dancers used contact improvisation skills to find new authentic ways of moving by themselves – with boxes, balls, the wall and with others.

In the heat the studio came alive with an amazing group of people who threw themselves into it and shared honestly and deeply.

Acquisitions 14 season

The world premiere of Undertide kicked things off, with an exquisite mixed-media dance and film work by Olive Bieringa and Otto Ramstad. Undertide explores the experience of living in a body, raising questions on how we experience life from the inside out.

An energitic Jigsaw of physical bodies - The inaugural HOTBOX Rogue featuring dancers Alisha McLennan, Georgie Goater, Daniel King and Zildjian Robinson. "Operating outside so called 'normal or desirable controls', Rogue is a fragmented, energetic, jigsaw of physical bodies. Using uncanny stories and coincidences to embrace everyday activities the piece also challenges roles of dominance," said choreographer Malia Johnston. A series of duets ending in a dynamic quartet Rogue set in a 3m x 3m square that can be performed in a variety of spaces.
