Resignation of Touch Compass General Manager, Karen Fraser Payne

It is with real regret that the Touch Compass Board has accepted the resignation of our long standing General Manager Karen Fraser Payne.

Karen was a founding board member of Touch Compass and became GM in 2009.

During her time with us Karen’s business and fundraising skills have been pivotal in securing, maintaining and generating a range of income sources, which is no mean feat in today’s highly competitive arts environment.

It is to her credit that the company has been the recipient of Creative New Zealand funding for the past eight years with the next two years also secure.

Along with Artistic Director, Catherine Chappell, Karen has helped build the company into the confident organisation we are all proud to be part of today.

Karen has always had a big vision for the company’s artistic ability and for the many ways Touch Compass works to change attitudes about people with a disability and enable their participation. Her energy, vision and attention to detail will be sorely missed and I know you will join us in wishing her well.

Karen is looking forward to having more time with her family before she embarks on a new path and she is grateful for the time she has spent with the Touch Compass family.

Karen came to us as GM following a stint in Parliament where she was the private secretary for tourism for John Key, who was then Leader of the Opposition. Prior to that Karen worked for eight years in corporate affairs for Auckland Airport.

Karen will finish with us at the end of September and we are now recruiting for a new GM. We will farewell her at our 20th anniversary event in December and I hope you can all join us that day to say a personal good-bye.
