Touch Compass Dance Company appoints new General Manager

It is with great pleasure that Touch Compass announces the appointment of Charlotte Nightingale as its new General Manager, with her taking up the role from 15th January. Charlotte replaces long term GM Karen Fraser Payne; a founding trustee and former chair of the company.

Charlotte trained in Theatre in London and was an accomplished performer, teacher and director before moving into arts management. She is the co founder of successful Auckland based children’s performing arts company Peaches and Pickles where she held the role of Artistic Director for 7 years. Charlotte is an engaging public speaker particularly when discussing her passion for inclusion in the arts. She has been a guest on TV3’s The Cafe as well as speaking at numerous public events and training workshops. She brings with her a wealth of expertise in leadership, strategic planning and communications.

Charlotte said “It is so wonderful to be working for a dance company that really celebrates diversity, where inclusion is the norm and where dance is for everyone. I am eager to get our name out there, help develop ways to support and train emerging performers and I believe we have tremendous potential for growth. I’m excited to get started.”

Chairperson Helen Jacobi said “In this our 20th year it is great to have new leadership to continue the fantastic work from our former GM Karen Fraser Payne. These are big shoes to fill and we feel confident that Charlotte will lead the company into its next phase.”

Charlotte joins award winning founder and Artistic Director Catherine Chappell whose pioneering work in integrated dance and contact improvisation have helped shape contemporary dance in Aotearoa New Zealand.

The Touch Compass team and board are looking forward to working together with Charlotte to take Touch Compass into the next decade.
