Dancer - Support tutor

Emilia hails from Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she was a Professional Dancer mainly in contemporary dance for fourteen years. Currently based in Auckland, Emilia joined Touch Compass as a dancer in 2008 and currently works as a performer and support tutor for our community class.

Performing as a freelance dancer in many dance projects in both countries Argentina and New Zealand, Emilia has worked with noted local choreographers Carol Brown, Kristian Larsen and Suzanne Cowan

Her accolades include the Clarín Award for Best Dancer of the Year in Argentina - 2001 and Best Female Dancer in Tempo Dance Festival in Auckland – 2006.

Dance therapy is a big part of Emilia’s professional work and she has recently joined Dance and Art Therapy NZ, leading as a Dance Therapist for youth and adults in their Dance 4 Us programme. Emilia received her diploma in Dance Movement Therapy in BRECHA, while in Argentina. She also received her Diploma in Expressive Art Therapy in TAE in Lima, Peru.

Forever furthering her knowledge in the arts environment, Emilia studied photography at UNITEC and is currently taking Contact Improvisation, Visual Art and Ceramic classes.
